O Convento de Santa Maria da Vitória (mais conhecido como Mosteiro da Batalha) situa-se na Batalha, Portugal, e foi mandado edificar por D. JoãoI como agradecimento do auxílio divino e celebração da vitória na Batalha de Aljubarrota. Em 1388 já ali viviam os primeiros Dominicanos.

Santa Maria da Vitória na Batalha, more commonly known as the Batalha Monastery, is a Dominican monasteryin the Portuguese town of Batalha, in the district of Leiria. It is one of the best and original examples of Late Gothic architecture in Portugal, intermingled with the Manueline style. It amazes the onlooker with its profusion of gables, pires, pinnacles and butresses.It has become a symbol of national pride.

Alcobaça

Alcobaça tornou-se conhecida depois que D. Afonso Henriques decidiu mandar construir uma igreja para celebrar a conquista de Santarém aos Mouros. Mais tarde a Ordem de Cister cria o Mosteiro que envolve a igreja. É um monumento gótico onde podemos ver os tumulos de D. Pedro e Inês de Castro.

The city of Alcobaça became notable after the first King of Portugal, Afonso Henriques, decided to build there a church to celebrate the conquest of Santarém to the Moors, in 1147. The church later evolved into the Monastery of Alcobaça, one of the most magnificent gothic monuments in the country. In the church are the tombs of King Peter I and his murdered mistress Inês de Castro. Over the centuries this monastery had an important role on Portuguese culture.
